Adams Street, 4th Floor, Chicago, IL 60607) | | Details: | HPSI has partnered with the National Hellenic Museum and the University of Illinois' Modern Greek Studies program to present a discussion on the current Greek financial crisis by Professor Konstantinos Kourtikakis. Professor Kourtikakis will be discussing the events that set the stage for the current financial crisis in Greece and the implications of the crisis on the European Union, the United States and the rest of the world. Don't miss the opportunity to hear expert analysis on the events in Greece that are making headlines daily and to network with members of three Hellenic organizations!
Dr. Kourtikakis serves as an adjunct professor for the College of Law at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Political Science, European Union Center, and Modern Greek Studies Program. He earned his B.A. in International and European Economic and Political Studies from the University of Macedonia (Greece) and his Ph.D. in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Charles Kanakis, Jr. is a leading cardiologist in the Chicago metropolitan area having been in private practice since 1980. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Illinois College of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 1969. He completed his fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Illinois Medical Center. Dr. Kanakis has been part of the teaching staff at the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine since 1970 as is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. In 1975 he won the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Kanakis is currently an attending physician at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois and Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie, Illinois. He is a Colonel in the United States Army National Guard as a State Surgeon. Dr. Kanakis has licensure and certifications in the State of Illinois and State of California as well as from the American Board of Internal Medicines with subspecialty certifications in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
